Tool
Position size calculator
Enter how much you’re willing to lose if the stop is hit. It tells you the lot size.
How it works
Your risk in pounds is your balance times your risk percentage. Converted to dollars, it’s divided by how much one lot loses when price moves against you by the stop distance. Gold: 1 lot is 100 ounces, so a $1 move is $100 per lot. Bitcoin: 1 lot is 1 BTC, so a $1 move is $1 per lot.
The lot size is rounded down to your broker’s step, so you never risk more than you meant to. If even the minimum lot risks too much, the calculator says so. Check your broker’s contract size, because a few brokers differ. More in the guide: gold pip value and lot size.
