Key levels
The plan
- Buy rejections at the gamma levels below price: GEX 1 with the previous NY low, then the Put Support.
What happened
The 02:00 UK hour wicked to 4,144.5, under GEX 1 (4,151) and the previous NY low (4,147), and closed back above. I bought 0.01 lots at 4,154.11 at 03:04 UK. Price held for a few hours, then slid and stopped me at 4,142.93 at 09:48 UK: −£8.47. In the 13:00 UK hour gold dropped about $70 into the area above the gamma Put Support (4,076). It held 4,073-4,080 for hours, and I bought 0.01 lots at 4,086.46 at 18:46 UK. Price climbed overnight and I closed at 4,118.24 at 01:05 UK on Thursday: +£22.23 after swap and commission.
Trades
1h rejection at GEX 1 (4,151) and the previous NY low (4,147): 02:00 UK wick to 4,144.5, closed back above. Bought at 03:04 UK. Stopped at 4,142.93 at 09:48 UK. −£8.43 plus £0.04 commission.
Buy above the gamma Put Support (4,076) after the 13:00 UK sell-off held 4,073-4,080 for hours. Bought at 18:46 UK, closed at 4,118.24 on Thursday 01:05 UK (+$31.78). +£24.03 − £1.76 swap − £0.04 commission = +£22.23.
Lessons
- The Put Support did its job again: a big sell-off stopped right on it and turned. Patience after the drop (waiting hours for it to hold) gave the best trade of the week.
